The Upper Ferntree Gully Cricket Club fields junior and senior cricket teams in the Ferntree Gully District Cricket Association
Our annual golf day was once again held at Beaconhills last weekend. Thanks to the Bailey's for repeating their previous efforts and putting on a fantastic day. With over 50 in attendance the golf day keeps growing. The eventual winners this year were the group of Goodger, Stix, Hart and Bennett. Thanks must go to Tony and Kerrie Rech for supplying everyone with dinner on their arrival back to the club for the presentations. Shot of the day must go to Alister Lord who drove the last for a hole in one. Click on the photo to see more from the day.

A great weekend was had for the UFTGCC. As we stand all grades are in the four and look a real chance to play finals. The firsts on the weekend had a convincing win over Footballers. After making 335 on day 1 the boys then rolled through Footballers for 175. Some outstanding contributions were made, most noteably Lenny Henry who made his second hundred for the club. He finished on 135. He was backed up by the rest of the middle who all contributed. David Goodger made 0. Hard to tell the difference between David and New Zealands batting bunny Chris Martin at the moment. Lucky he's bowling superbly at the moment. The nugget award could well be his. The bowling was a team performance with Stix the pick of the bowlers. That now puts the ones 3 points from second. A great effort from the boys considering we were bottom before Xmas. Haven't seen Ian Harley print the ladder in the local paper for a while?

The two's have strung a couple of wins together now under the inspirational captaincy of Nugget. They also played Footballers and after a ordinary start to the innings they scratched their way to a respectable 204. Daniel Claughton was the pick of the bats with a well made 42. After having footballers 1-28 over night the twos chased leather for the first hour. At 1-80 things looked grim. Rob Ba Birnie then picked up another 5 wicket bag. But by far the pick of the bowlers was Jarred Roleff. With a inspirational spell of 25 overs in 34 degree heat he picked up two vital wickets. Young Rhys Beyer topped off good with 3 wickets to go with his 28no.

Unfortunately the Three's had a bad loss to the bottom side. Only Young Tom Meagher produced another good performance.

The fours had another good win and have secured 2nd spot. Highlight was the veteran and club stalwart James Winters smashing 114. He was well supported by Steve Bailey. Another fine team effort by the fours.

The Fifths continue to rack up the points under the leader of Giffo. The fifths are second and can't miss the finals. James Knapman starred again and got the boys home after a shaky start. Can Giffo bring home a flag. Ear muffs may be essential if so.

Welcome to the Four
